Winter Night on 17th Ave

17th Avenue is one of Calgary’s hot spots for night life, restaurants, and trendy shopping. In the summer, the side walks are filled with people. In winter, there is still lots of activity, but less of it, especially on cold nights.

Fresh snow is visible on parts of the ground, but foot traffic has removed it entirely from the side walk.

New restaurants are always popping in existing buildings vacated by previous businesses.

Music posters advertising local bands and venues can be found in a couple areas of the avenue.

Alley ways aren’t far off from the beaten path.

Artwork can be found at different locations along 17th Ave. The display plaque shown here becomes somewhat obscure when snow covers it.

Another public art structure stands out nicely at night. This one is actually on nearby 4th Street, a block away from 17th Ave.
