Without a large body of water nearby, Kelowna is one of the areas where Calgarians go on vacation to experience a full waterfront, and the activities that go with it, including lounging on the beach. My summer visit this year was my very first. If you haven’t seen my post about Caldwell Heritage Farm in Kelowna, be sure to read it!
- While walking along Kelowna’s waterfront, you can see many of the leisure activities which are common in the area,
- This sculpture is located in Stuart Park, Downtown Kelowna, and is titled simply “The Bear”.
- The Quails’ Gate restaurant and winery offers a stunning view that is quintessential Kelowna. Unlike some other wineries, Quails’ Gate doesn’t mind if you respectfully explore the grounds.
- I hiked along Myra Canyon which is a pathway created from a former railway. It comprises 2 tunnels, and several trestles, one of which is shown here. The pathway is completely flat, so it’s not a challenging hike at all, but it’s a relaxing walk. You can also bike along it.
- The Myra Canyon area was devastated by wildfires a few years ago. Several of the trestles had to be rebuilt. This photo shows one of the trestles in the distance.
