Another stop of my Japan trip was the familiar Osaka. I’ve been there twice before, but it’s a different experience every time!
- Dotonbori is one the main tourist areas of Osaka.
- Dotonbori runs along the Dotonbori canal, which reflects some of the city lights at night. You may notice a fun animal-like character on one of the buildings on the left – more on that shortly!
- My favourite part of this street is the sign on the left with the screaming lady… or is she surprised? It’s really hard to tell.
- The aesthetic is very busy for sure, but it makes everything more interesting.
- I enjoyed the famous Kobe beef at this restaurant. A chef prepared the whole meal right at the table, and spoke enough English to speak about his life in Osaka, and previous history in Tokyo.
- The Osaka Castle is a beautiful building on the outside. The inside is a modern styled museum.
- You can see a lot of the city from the top of Osaka Castle. There’s quite a variety of building styles and structures in the yard surrounding the castle.
- I mentioned this building earlier in this post. This is one of Japan’s many department stores, which offers boat rides AND a ferris wheel! The store itself is quite fun as well with lots of toys and candy.
- These are the views from the top of the ferris wheel.
I hope you are enjoying my Japan 2018 blog posts so far. More is coming soon!

I was in Japan for fun back in September. Previously, I went there for 2 conferences during my school program.
