For my last Japan trip post, I’d like to share some of my favourite photos while sightseeing in Tokyo as well as a few from a Sumo wrestling match.
- I stayed in Shin-juku which is a popular area of Tokyo, and beautiful to explore at night with all the lights.
- Even in daytime, some of the streets like this one near Akihabara are very busy and colourful.
- Shibuya Crossing. These clear umbrellas make it easier to see other pedestrians on Japan’s busy sidewalks.
- Senso-ji Temple.
- From this street near the Senso-ji temple, you can see the Tokyo Tower.
- Sumo is Japan’s national sport, and a must-see for many visitors to Tokyo. The matches run all day, but most people drop in during the afternoon to see the most prominent wrestlers.
- The actual fighting for each round may only last a few seconds, with a few minutes of preparation in between to build excitement and suspense.
- Photos don’t quite do it justice. Sumo is a sport to experience in person.
