I visited the China Folk Culture Village inside the Splendid China theme park in Shenzhen. It features the daily life of various ethnic groups in China. The hot weather made it difficult to enjoy being outdoors in the middle of the day for any length of time, but there were many worthwhile sights to be seen.
After this post, I have 2 more to go from Shenzhen, adding an extra post to my originally planned set of 6.
- Colourful umbrellas are the first things you see when entering the park.
- There were many charms hanging in special areas. Some are adorned with bells and other decorations.
- A Buddha with many arms overlooks part of the park. Many locals were stopping to pay their respects.
- Red prayer cards, many with individual messages, hang near the Buddha statue.
- Maize ears (corn) are traditonally hung in long bunches for storage.
- This series of bamboo tubes are designed to fill up with water, pivot forward, and then empty out. A banging sound is created, and then the process repeats. The Chinese have a specific name for this set of tubes, and reasons why they use them, but I cannot remember any of that right now unfortunately.
- One turtle seems to be deciding whether he will allow the other turtle onto the platform or not.
Amazing shots! I like the story behind the shot style.
You can ask Ben about the bambo tubes name 😉
